I've had the fortune of getting my picture taken by Shadow a few times at a local Goth joint. He is a very nice guy and has a way of making you feel calmer and more comfortable around him and the camera. He kind of has an air around him that makes you want to show yourself off a little. Even when your a goob like me.

I haven't been able to hire him for one of these camera adventures I hear so much about, but I'd very much like to one day. If you can I say do it! Oh and aside from him being a good photographer, he's not a bad singer either. I have a recording to prove it!

Shadow Darkwell is a phenomenal photographer. He is truly an artist. He has an eye for beauty, even in the most abstract settings and scenarios he finds magic. Shadow started as a Patron at Dark Intentions and we had the pleasure to watch him and his fabulous work evolve over the years. In a club setting the importance of making a person comfortable with candid pictures being taken can be a challenge. This is a challenge that Shadow managed to make into art over the years. To be able to walk through a club and catch the fondest memories of the patrons with such style is a skill in itself. To capture those pictures to perfection and make a life long memory that people are proud to be a part of is an art form. Over the years Shadow progressed from amateur to artist before our eyes. Though Dark Intentions is currently not an active club night, Shadow always has an open invite and is a welcome contribution to any function we may have.

I've been on many photoshoots before, many of them, but I'd never before experienced a Photo-Adventure quite like the one I got with Shadow Darkwell. Shooting with him isn't just modeling, it's sharing an experience. He takes photography beyond lighting, beyond setting, and beyond Photoshop. He tells a whole story. It feels like you're creating and discovering a whole new world all at the same time, from the way he snaps shots of small details on the ground or in the water, to how he finds that perfect scenery to create vivid emotion. My work with Shadow of Darkwell Studios was exciting, adventurous, and absolutely fun! We had fun running around the town of Nashua looking for interesting places/backgrounds for our pictures. Shadow worked with us to find out what it was that we wanted, as well as used his artistic creativity in order to get the best photos he could get. I've had nothing but compliments from friends and family as I've showed them the photos he took of me. All in all I'm completely satisfied with his work, I do recommend him, and I will use him if I decide to have another shoot!

The first time I was photographed by Shadow I was really impressed because I am not really photogenic at all. It was an awesome Sunday Templecon night. I was getting out to go to club for the first time in years. Due to a move to Washington state.

Shadow captures an essence of you that comes out in the photos its almost like an aura captured in pictures. I have been very intrigued by his work. I will forever enjoy his work. Its crisp, clear, and magickal.

Also nice to not have a waiver "waved" in your face like some other photographers. I always found that to be really weird.

For an amateur or established model, they can offer you incredibly powerful and adventurous shots to "break from the norm" and accentuate both your versatility as a professional and highlight your individuality. For an everyday person, such as myself, just maybe looking to do something a little different or explore your wilder / darker side, then Darkwell Studios is where you need to be.

The photo shoots themselves are so much fun that you actually start to forget you're being photographed and the energy levels are so high it erases any tension or nervousness. I was completely at ease!! Shadow himself is a wonderful person, let alone one of the best photographers in this business, and has the amazing ability to make every new face feel like an old friend. During my first shoot with them, I was very self conscious and camera shy and I really worried that my ideas and requests would be considered odd, but Shadow not only understood what I was looking for, but took it above and beyond what I could have ever imagined! The images from that shoot were so unique and utterly amazing that I will cherish them for years to come.

There are many phrases that can be used to describe Shadow Darkwell. Energetic, accurate, friendly, A strong visual eye. While all of these are true, the most important ones to me as a club promoter and DJ are... Punctual, Talented, Promoter, and Reliable. Once in a supposed snow storm, I called Shadow to tell him he didn't have to drive from NH to RI for the night because I didn't want him to risk the trip. His response..."Nonsense, I'll be their 30 min before the club opens as usual!"

He will go to any lengths necessary to get the right shot, including balancing atop stair railings. Shadow Darkwell is an amazing and fantastic photographer. Not to mention he is now one of my closest friends. His kick ass funny personality doesn't just show up as a friend, but as a photographer. I couldn't stop laughing for most of our photo shoot, and most photos were actually taken between my out bursts of laughter at Shadow's jokes and funny antics. He is adventurous, and will climb trees (nearly falling out of them mind you) just to get the picture from the right angle. I asked for unworldly mystical type photos and he helped me get just that. He isn't like most photographers that point the camera, tell what to pose, and take the picture. Shadow lets you try what ever, and if for what ever reason it doesn't look good he'll let you know how to make it better so that the pictures come out the way you want them too. My photo shoot with Shadow was definitely quite a funny and most definitely a fun adventure. I recommend him to anyone who is looking for fantastic photos, and to have an absolute blast taking them.

It all started at my workplace. I was sitting there, bored out of my skull, with a long sheet of paper in my hands and loads of time to kill. On a whim, I decided I would write down some New Years Resolutions, as it was January, and I wanted this year to be somewhat different. One of those resolutions was "Schedule my first Photoshoot".

I was incredibly privileged to have said shoot with Mr. Darkwell. Nervous person I can be at times, I stressed, wondering how things would turn out, and whether it would simply be just a waste of time. Would I just be making a fool out of myself in front of the camera for a few hours? Was it going to be worth it? Nothing was quite certain, and anything could happen.

Ladies and Gents... it was quite worth it. He played the parts of Guide, Teacher, Director, and when he needed to be, Comedian (thank goodness). He would not stop until everything felt just right, even if it meant bringing me up on a different date to continue things! To be dull was not an option. He exhibited a life and energy rarely seen; truly refreshing qualities in such a colorless world. It was everything I could have hoped for, and more.

A world has been opened to me, both due to my own intuition, and Mr. Darkwell's work. I couldn't be more pleased, and would leap at the chance to work with him again in the future!

What can be said about Mr. Darkwell other than the fact that his professionalism is fantastically off set by his ability to make the entire experience an amazing one. Shadow always gets a winning shot out of even the most difficult clients. He is the most charismatic, energetic, and focused professional photographer I have ever had the pleasure of working with.

Shadow seems to even have a sort of magic about him when he is working, because he will stop short of nothing to get the perfect picture of his client. I have personally seen this amazing photographer contort his own body to get just the right shot. Mr. Darkwell is truly a self-made pioneer in his field. His exploration of dark and evocative photography has truly been an inspiration to myself as a professional artist and enthusiast. When I came to him looking for a photo shoot I was thoroughly convinced that he would only be able to do so much for me with regards to making me look good. I was very wrong indeed. For someone who can be very insecure I love having pictures taken of me. One of my favorite places to do this is at goth and fetish clubs. 90% of the time it's Shadow taking these pictures.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for him. It's one thing to be shooting scheduled photoshoots with one model, but to be at a club amongst several people constantly coming up to you to ask for a picture while you're trying to socialize at the same time is on a whole other level.

I am so grateful to have Shadow as a club photographer at many places I go dancing. His willingness to take everyone's photos, kindness and patience puts me at ease and makes me feel comfortable and okay walking up and asking him to take my photo.

What is even better is he always lets you see the photo taken and if you don't like the result he will take another. He wants to make sure you are happy and satisfied.

He always posts photos from clubs and events within in week, but that doesn't stop me from being anxious to see them all!

Shadow is on my list of "photographers I most want to work with" and I can't wait to model for him!

Working with Shadow/Darkwell Studios is a fun and wonderful experience: it is an adventure in itself. From the beginning it was so much more than working with any old photographer. He gives off positive energy and a LOT of it, he is nothing but professional and is willing to help out any way he can. Fixing hair, readjusting positions. Thing with him tend to be interesting. If it's walking along the railroads for the PERFECT shot, or finding abandoned factories.

Shadow worked with me to find out what it was that I wanted to work on, when not finding a concept we just decided to wing it and look for good spots to shoot. He uses his artistic creativity to get the best photos he could possibly get, and is a perfectionist in his art.

Shadow is one of the most energetic photographers I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He has a charisma about him that most don't have in this business. So many photographers will make a woman feel creeped out and put off. Shadow tries his best to take that element out of his work, be gentle with his models and make them feel comfortable and at home. He seems to have a passion for this art that is hard to compete with that only those of his caliber could match. Also he has a wonderful artistic eye. It goes along with his perfection issues though *smiles* oh yes. I've watched him go through photos and will skip over most just to get the best ones even if it's only a couple.

It is a lot of fun watching him work, even as the model I get a few giggles. In my shoot with him he ran around like a mad man to get shots he wanted. Would practically throw himself on the floor for "the perfect angle", only to bounce back up. He is someone I would enjoy working with again, I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

I'm not a model in any sense of the word. Shadow has gotten plenty of candid shots of me at the local club in Providence, RI & they always look better than the ones I actually pose for. That being said, the ones I do pose for (at the club) still come out remarkably well. He always stops to see how everyone is doing & seems to have a knack for catching people at their best. The nights he's at the club give me large amounts of joy. The pictures tend to be up a day or so after he takes then & it's like being a kid on Christmas Day when I get to see all the people I had a great time with & myself captured so beautifully. I would recommend Shadow Darkwell to anyone that wants to enjoy the entire experience of having their photos done.

Shadow Darkwell has the amazing talent of finding the best look and the best setting for each of his photo shoots. Even with a shy model like myself, he was able to make the experience both productive and enjoyable. He has a never-ending energy about him when a camera hits his hands, and it's as much fun watching him run and jump around as it is getting the pictures taken. Shadow was awesome to work with! He treats his models as his friends and is great at keeping the shoot comfortable yet professional. He was almost constantly taking photos which resulted in some really creative and interesting angles and perspectives. Not to mention the locations we went to (I wouldn't have been able to pick them out). I'm really happy with the photos he produced for me and I'd recommend him to any model looking for creative and artistic photographs.
